Fast Break deals you a 4x4 board of NBA players and names one category - career points, All-Star selections, championship rings. Every player on the board hides his own NUMBER in that category, and your goal is simple: collect the biggest numbers you can. You pick exactly one player per row, top to bottom, and each pick must stay connected: from your last pick you can only move to the same column or one column to the left or right. Your four picks form a path, your score is the SUM of their hidden values, and the optimal path is just the connected path with the highest total - there is nothing to match or pair, only big numbers to grab. Your score shows as a percentage of that optimum. The catch is the shot clock - you get 20 seconds per board. Run out of time and only the picks you locked in count. Three boards a day, easy to hard; average 60% or better across all three to win the day.
Fast Break is the airball.gg take on the connected-path puzzle format. Every board is generated from verified career data - the hidden values behind the faces come straight from the stat database, never estimated - and every board is checked so that the best path beats the runner-up by a real margin, meaning a perfect read is never punished by a rounding error. The three daily boards ramp easy to hard: the first spreads stars beside role players so the route reads itself, the last deals a narrow band of players so alike that every row is a genuine question. Player photos and names are shown; the stat values stay hidden until the reveal, where your path is drawn against the optimal one so you can see exactly which row cost you. Categories rotate daily across counting stats, honors and career-shape facts - points one day, championship rings or franchises played for the next - so the same sixteen faces would play completely differently under tomorrow's lens.
What does connected mean exactly?
From your pick in one row, your next pick must be in the same column or an adjacent column - one step left or right. You can never jump across the board between rows.
What happens when the 20 seconds run out?
The board ends and only the picks you locked in are scored, as a partial path. Locking two good picks before the buzzer always beats freezing with none.
How is the score calculated?
Each board scores your path total as a percentage of that board's best possible path. Your day score is the average across the three boards, and 60% or better wins the day.
Do the three boards get harder?
Yes - board one has a wide talent spread so the route is readable, board two tightens, and board three deals players so close in value that the optimal path is a real puzzle.
Can I play past days?
Yes - use the calendar on the game page to replay any previous Fast Break since launch. Past games don't affect your streak or stats.
